Multitasking: The Biggest Parenting Ruiner
Jul 17, 2025
Multiitasking: The Biggest Parenting Ruiner - You know those click-baity articles about “This ONE thing will solve all your problems”? Well, this is like that, except for real. And frequent readers know that I stink at making things click-baity, so if I say this is a silver bullet, I mean it.
One thing creates practically every parenting problem, and it’s so simple and fixable:
Multitasking.
Think of your biggest parenting challenge. Losing your temper? Chaotic house? Repeating yourself? Picky eaters? Sibling rivalry? Morningtime madness? Disrespect? Whining? Tantrums? ALL of these can be solved, or at least greatly improved, simply by eliminating multitasking. Let me prove it to you:
Remember when you potty-trained your kiddo? Most of us set aside a few days to be laser-focused on it. Everything else was on hold; our only project was helping them learn this new skill. We fully expected that there would be accidents, cleanup, and so on. Because of our singular focus and realistic expectations, when our kids peed 6 inches from the pot, we were calm. When they hopped off the throne, only to crap their pants 5 minutes later, we cleaned it up with a patient smile. And it worked! If your kid was ready to potty train, they did it quickly, and it was a relatively painless process for everyone.
And we never parented like that again.
For most of us, that was the last time we parented without multitasking. It literally took the fear of a sh*t-covered house - or the allure of no more diapers - for us to lock in!
But what if you locked in again? It is possible to approach life without multitasking, believe it or not. And all those challenges I listed above are totally solvable, quickly, calmly, and effectively when you’re locked in.
Cultivate a No Multitasking Mindset
My job as a coach is to help you cultivate this mindset so that when behavioral issues arise, you remain focused. You respond well to your child with no irritation or need to rush - this is your only project, so it’s not annoying, and the work is expected and accepted. It’s a game changer.
This presence and patience doesn’t come overnight or by accident. It’s why people hire coaches like me. I help you execute on your beautiful intention to be a locked-in, conscious, and focused parent. I work with you to uncover anything getting in the way, and I do it all with fierce love for your vision and your potential. It starts with a Discovery Call where I get to learn about that vision. And you get to share everything that’s tripping you up so far. You’ll walk away with a clear pathway forward and tangible steps to implement right away.
I’m booking sessions now with parents who are ready to set their parenting goals in motion before their kids head back to school. Click here and set up your call today!
