We See Through You - We All See You
We See Through You - A while ago, I was coaching an Enneatype Two (aka the Helper or Giver). Twos go above and beyond for people they love, and have an amazing ability to intuit others’ feelings. They are selfless…except that's not really the case. Underneath their giving is a need to be needed, for fear that without it, they might be unlovable. There is a selfishness in a Two’s help.
An Example of an Enneatype Two
My client was realizing that because he was sometimes manipulative or controlling with his help, his partner was often frustrated with him. I asked what would happen if he simply asked his partner for what he needed, instead of trying to get it by being helpful.
“Then he might see how selfish I really am.”
We See Through You
We humans are like toddlers hiding behind our own hands during hide-and-seek. We think we can hide - but everyone sees us plain as day. These guys had been together for years - my client's partner already knew my client wasn't the selfless hero he pretended to be, and he loved him nonetheless!
After discussing this, my client committed to redirecting the energy he was previously using to mask his needs from his partner and instead focusing on accepting the truth of his whole self.

This is just one of the reasons I love the Enneagram. It is a loving and honest mirror that helps us see what’s really going on, and be okay with that; in the process, we get closer to true consciousness.
